We had a hop-on-hop-off style bus tour of the city. We went past the Museum of Communism.
This is a monument to all of the Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust. It was sponsored by the American actor, Tony Curtis. It is called "The Tree of Life", and each leaf has the name of a victim. If you look carefully, you can see that the trunk of the tree is shaped like a Menorah. Our guide explained that the Menorah is a symbol of light and life, and with it turned upside down, it is a metaphor for death and darkness. It also forms a weeping willow.
